A downloadable game for Windows

- The Year Is 1968 -

Trying to sleep amid academic pressure, pretending to be alright, and a raging thunderstorm outside of your dorm room, all you have to do is get in bed and get some rest. If only your dreams would cooperate...

My entry for the Dream Diary Jam 4, which is a remake of my embarrassing DDJ2 entry. Made using Photoshop and RPG Maker 2003, with the YNFG template provided by the incredibly talented Clockwork Prince. More detailed credits can be found in both the game proper and the readme.txt file.

Featuring...

  • Roughly twenty to thirty minutes of gameplay in the weird, Alice in Wonderland and Sixties-inspired dreams and nightmares of Hargreaves, a troubled college student in denial of her troubledness.
  • Four (or more?) different effects that all affect gameplay and contribute to reaching new secrets and areas, default included.
  • Two different endings, a few minor events and interactivity, and nine different worlds to explore.
  • Drastically improved pixel art, and a significantly smaller file with virtually no load times or lag.

Thank you for checking out my game, and thank you to VitaliaDi and PhantomMat for beta testing it!

This bug is killing me X0

(1 edit)

Hm, that’s odd. I haven’t come upon that in testing. Does that only happen when you interact with the radio?

Edit: Are you using Wine or another Windows emulator on a Mac? A friend advised me that this may be isolated to that operating system.

i guess so, maybe it's because i'm linuxoid and weird stuff happens sometimes x)

Yeah, that’ll do it. RPG Maker games get kind of weird on systems other than Windows. Last one I made was made for Mac and it still wouldn’t let the player save their progress. Sadly, I’m not sure if there’s anything I can do on my end to help. I’m really sorry.

Great Yume Nikki fangame! I like the themes throughout the dream world and how they reflect and tell a story about the character’s real life situation. The areas were nice and condensed and not a hassle to navigate. The music and sounds were pretty great; the flamingo effect freaked me out a bit! Overall, solid game!

Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! The flamingo was fun to make: I had to warn the people I lived with that I was about to shriek into my mic for a game, so that was interesting to explain. If I heard you right, the effects activated when you pressed the one key instead of shift, which I don't think was supposed to occur... but yeah, thanks for taking the time to make a Let's Play!

I really enjoyed figuring out this game. The settings, music, and art surrounding it really set the mood and I had a lot of fun playing!

Thank you so much for taking the time to make a Let's Play of my game! It completely made my day, and I'm glad you enjoyed it so much.

To answer your questions at the end of the video, you found pretty much everything significant, including in the Gallery and with the endings. You're free to go back and play around with the world, of course, but you won't find anything noteworthy.

If you like this style of game, I highly recommend you check out the rest of this year's Dream Diary Jam entires- they're all incredibly good. And if you aren't familiar Yume Nikki, the original game we're all making fan games of, I recommend that, too. It's much larger and leans harder on the horror spectrum, with many more effects, worlds to explore, and quirky events to unlock. Best of all, it's free on Steam.

Seriously, thanks again for playing my game. The feedback is always nice, and tells me what I have to work on next time. (And don't worry about getting copyright struck; all of the songs used are in the Creative Commons!)

This is very well put together! I got the normal ending, but I'm missing one of the items (the one you place on the far right in the area past the cat door). I'm completely stumped.

Hello! Thank for for your feedback (and please ignore that deleted post: I realized I gave for the wrong information).

I'm currently working on a walkthrough on the YNFG Wikia, but until then, you can find the Spray Can back in the Cheshire Forest. The entrance to the place you're looking for should be slightly north and to the left, and you'll need an effect to get in.

Hope that helps!

Nice and tranquil! And I had a couple chuckles in the gallery. ;)

Very beautiful atmosphere and art, the Wonderland themes were a lot of fun to play through and there was enough of a challenge in the maps to keep the gameplay interesting along with all the pretty sights.
